Entertainment Industry Payroll Processor Case Study

The Challenge

The client was having difficulty adopting Agile business and development practices and was developing its first mobile application. The client had roughly twelve teams with a variety of experience, skill sets and technical platforms that required training in Agile values and practices.

Our Approach

Paul Reed worked with the client’s senior executives in order to identify their key product development issues and Agile transformation goals, as well as plan the company’s Agile transformation program. Paul provided coaching and training to about 12 payroll processing and licensed products teams in Agile practices including agile roadmap development, program and release planning, user story grooming, agile testing, and Test Driven Development. The Agile project management tools used include Mingle, Rally and Target Process. The client’s technical platform included C#, Java, Jboss, Junit, BRMS, drolls, JSON / XML via Restful API’s, Db2, dot.net, and SQL Server.

Paul also worked with the the client’s agile team on their first mobile application product development, a native IOS, HTML5 and browser based time submission and approval application. Additionally, he planned and facilitated the clients first ever BPR initiative with the client’s core payroll business process including payroll onboarding, client setup and payroll setup.

The Results

With Paul’s help, the client was able to successfully institute Agile practices in its development model. The client development teams are now trained in the Agile process and can more effectively execute the Agile development cycle.
